Footsteps

I had a dream last night of footsteps in the sand
God and I were walking—it must have been hand in hand
For there were two pairs of footsteps in the sand
His footsteps and my footsteps in the sand
And in the dream I had, we walked the peaceful shore
It seemed that we would walk that way, hand in hand forevermore
Two pairs of footsteps in the sand,
His footsteps and my footsteps in the sand

And then the crashing waves of a wild and angry sea
Broke upon the shoreline of my life
Things I could not control were like churning, turning tides
And angry winds of strife
And when I was almost beaten and needed a helping hand
There was just one pair of footsteps in the sand
“You stayed when all was peaceful, but then where did you go?
“Perhaps You’d had enough
“When fortune fled and friends too, but oh, I needed You
“When times got so rough
And then He said so gently as patient fathers do
“When trouble stormed the shoreline, My child, I carried you”

Promise #277: If you believe in Jesus, you will not be disappointed.

For today's promise, I like the NIV version of 1 Peter 2:6 which says... For in Scripture it says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame." NIV

Shame is a powerful negative motivator. In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve were naked and unashamed until they took of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. It was then that they realized their nakedness and sought to cover their shame with fig leaves. The condition of shame still exists today in the unredeemed part of our soul. However our fig leaves look much different than Adam and Eve's did.

Perhaps we cover our nakedness through a relentless pursuit of success and material wealth? Perhaps through religious striving? Perhaps isolation and self-protection? There are many ways that we try and combat feelings of shame in our lives. The good news of today's promise is that anyone who comes to Jesus, will NEVER EVER be put to shame or be disappointed.

God's love is the covering that you and I need to cover every area of inadequacy that we feel in our lives. May we be so overwhelmed with the love of God today, that we will not run and hide from God (like Adam and Eve did) but rather we will run into our Father's loving arms.

To think about GOD´S LOVE ,ACCEPT IT and GIVE IT BACK and RECEIVE IT ALSO FROM OTHERS...... came to my mind after reading this promise and devotion this week and this song fits it perfectly
